Connection to STEAM Disciplines

The daily compliment function connects to the science discipline. Scientists discovered that being complimented triggers the same reaction of the brain that receiving a monetary award does. The positive feelings that result put the user in a better mood and mental state.

Science

My idea is entirely app-based and requires a mobile device to download it to work. I have also used the functions in Google slides to create a mockup of the app.

Technology

After looking at how app-making websites style their layouts for prototype apps, I created my mockup from scratch using Google slides.

Engineering

The main color of my app is a mix of orange and yellow. I chose this color because orange is associated with optimism and an energetic attitude. The color is found to inspire action and positivity, giving people the courage to continue on with their lives no matter how hard it may seem.

Art

I researched statistics on aspects of mental health and causes of low self-esteem. Research shows bullying can cause low self-esteem, and 1 out of every 5 students reported being bullied for their appearance, race, etc. I then included the daily compliments function to help combat the insults people may face.
